The investment in the structure for communitarian libraries is the basis of the Vaga Lume working methodology. The collection of 150 or 300 new books, is carefully selected, with emphasis on early reading titles.
Vaga Lume invests in the purchase and distribution of quality materials, making them reach rural communities with difficult access, followed by training actions.
The books, dealt within the perspective of cultural objects, are accompanied by a basic structure:
• Bookcases of certified wood produced by inmates of the Ananindeua Recovery Center in Belém, PA, in partnership with the Penal System Administration of Pará;
• Bookcases made with recycled canvas, used to display books, comics, magazines or newspapers;
• Mediation Carpets used to display books on the floor, protecting them while easing its handle.
The physical structure to house the collection donated is a community counterpart and an important indicator of the community ownership of the project.
